What better time to pamper your loved one or yourself, than during pregnancy. Although this is one of the happiest times in life, and the expecting woman is supposed to be glowing, one can’t ignore the physical changes happening to the body. With the obvious, women also commonly experience low back pain, sciatica, pain in the neck and shoulders, carpal tunnel, swelling, and much more. A prenatal massage can absolutely help with many issues.
Many women also experience a heightened amount of stress for a variety of reasons, good and bad. Massage can help by increasing the secretion of dopamine and serotonin which eases depression and reduces anxiety. Massage also helps to soothe the nervous system making it easier to fall asleep.
Edema is a very common problem in pregnancy. This is where fluids build up and cause swelling of the ankles, feet, and lower legs. Massage increases the circulation of blood and lymph, helping to carry the excess fluids from the extremities which decreases swelling, making mom more comfortable and able to put her favorite shoes back on.
Here at Creative Wellness, we cater to the expectant mom. We have special equipment, including a table with a tummy cut-out and a bolster system, which allows the mommy-to-be to lay on her belly during the session. Our goal is to make the pregnant woman as comfortable as possible to maximize the effects of the massage. If “smells” aren’t an issue we also include aromatherapy with our three signature scents. Of course, you can also opt for scentless as well.
Our massage therapists are very experienced with pre and post-natal massage. As with any other medical condition, we encourage you to check with your doctor ahead of time.
